Dr. Krstal K. Thompson was born and raised in Philippi, West Virginia where she graduated with honors from Philip Barbour High School and obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Alderson Broaddus College. Dr. Thompson chose to remain in West Virginia to attend West Virginia University
School of Dentistry, where she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. She then completed an additional six years of training with a General Practice Residency at WVU, Internship at WVU, and then surgical residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at WVU.
During her Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training, Dr. Thompson earned an outstanding reputation throughout the WVU campus for her excellent work ethic, excellent performance and patient care. She was awarded an Excellence in Trauma Surgery Award and a Cornerstone of Recovery Award from the WVU
Trauma Surgery Team and was an American Academy of Orofacial Pain Award Recipient. She also continues to return to WVU to Ruby Memorial Hospital to teach Advanced Trauma Life Support as an instructor.
Dr. Thompson attributes her remarkable success to the people who have supported her throughout her
professional journey, from her parents who taught her to always work hard and encouraged her to be
the first in her family to graduate college, and to her husband of 19 years who has supported her
throughout their life together.
When not taking care of patients, Dr. Thompson enjoys spending time with her husband Ron in outdoor activities such as fishing, kayaking, and hiking. She and Ron can also be found at the local gym every
weekday morning gearing up for the day ahead.
